3 February 2009

Galabingo.com’s “Mrs. Obama’s Bingo” raised £10,000 for Sue Ryder Care, a healthcare charity based in the United Kingdom, the site announced today.

Launched by Kezia Obama, 67, a former wife of President Barack Obama’s late father, the game was available Jan. 15-23 to bingo players for one hour every evening.

Gala Bingo said it will match the £10,000 raised, which will bring the donation grand total to £20,000.

“Mrs. Obama's bingo game was just one of the ongoing activities being undertaken by Gala Coral Group to meet our target of raising £1 million by 2010 for Sue Ryder Care,” said Clive Cottrell, Gala Bingo's head of marketing, in a prepared statement.
