Online Gaming in Mauritius
Since 1996, the government has allowed potential operators to apply for a remote gaming license.
Online gambling is expressly recognised and regulated as “interactive” or “remote” gambling under the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act, with licensing and technical conditions set by the GRA, although in practice no domestically based online casino brands have gained significant scale and many Mauritian players use foreign sites. Residents of Mauritius are ot prohibited from accessing foreign-licensed online sites in practice, but the GRA has powers to regulate interactive gambling, issue directions to licensees and impose restrictions or blocking measures where necessary to protect consumers or enforce Mauritian law.
