Online Gaming in Caribbean

The Caribbean region is home to many online gaming operators. A number of countries have developed licensing infrastructures, and many host online gaming servers and call centers. Gambling license fees and taxes form a major part of government revenue for several jurisdictions.

The liberal attitude toward online gaming has caused friction between the small island nation of Antigua and Barbuda and the U.S. The former challenged U.S. restrictions on cross-border gambling services at the World Trade Organization in 2003. WTO rulings found that the United States had acted inconsistently with its trade commitments. The dispute remains listed as pending by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
