€19.6 million fine imposed on Gammix Limited

29 February 2024
(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority has imposed a fine of €19,679,000 on Gammix Limited for offering online games of chance without a license. That is forbidden. Previously, Gammix had already been ordered to pay a penalty of 4 million euros for the illegal offer.
Gammix offers illegal online games of chance on several websites (including rantcasino.com, betoriginal.com, bluvegas.com, cashimashi.com, goslot.com, nordslot.com, vegadream.com and scatters.com) that are available to players in the Netherlands. Gammix has not taken any measures to ban players from the Netherlands.
Previously, the Ksa imposed an order for incremental penalty payments for illegal online gambling offerings on Rant Casino and NordSlot. The illegal activities were not stopped after that, after which this penalty of four million euros was collected at the beginning of 2023. Gammix lodged an objection against that collection.
René Jansen, chairman of the Ksa: 'Dutch players must be protected: that is why we are cracking down on illegal offers. We see that illegal providers often pay little attention to the player and do not adhere to a duty of care. We also see this with this provider: for example, there was no clear age verification. That is hugely harmful. That is why we will continue to take punitive action, even if providers repeatedly make mistakes.'
With an amount of almost 20 million euros, this is the highest fine imposed by the Ksa since its establishment. When determining the amount of the fine, the estimated turnover of Dutch players is taken into account, among other things, but also circumstances that increase the fine. In the case of Gammix, these included the lack of age verification, the possibility of autoplay and turbo play (and thus the incitement to immoderate play) and other unreasonable conditions.
