A New Player Rises in the Far East

Waterfront Promotions, Ltd., one of the largest private hotel and casino operators in the Philippines, announced today that it has hired InterContinental Casino Ltd. to help it establish a "substantial gaming presence on the Internet."

Initially, Waterfront hotel/casino guests will be able to play at the virtual casino using software freely provided by Waterfront. Later this year, Waterfront is expected to become the first Philippine casino operator with a fully branded online casino.

"Our strategy of developing a strong Internet presence to compliment our existing and future land-based operations, is in our opinion, a key factor toward substantially growing our international player base," said S.K. Yap, Waterfront president and CEO.

InterContinental's vice president Shaun McCamley added, "This is an exciting and forward-thinking move by Waterfront. So many land-based casinos see the Internet as a threat and not as the greatest opportunity this industry has ever had."

InterContinental Casinos Ltd. is the gaming arm of international investment group ServiceNet Limited, based in Switzerland and Antigua, with expertise in the gaming and computer industries. The group operates five gaming and affiliate sites, powered by Boss Media software.

McCamley, responsible for opening up new markets and forging links with land-based casino groups keen to get an early foothold in the online market, says his company is providing a number of casino operators in the Far East with advice and practical solutions to help them develop their online strategies.
