Ablethird Limited, the United Kingdom-based arcade operator, has been refused a planning application for an adult gaming arcade in Northampton.
The company planned to move the Agora arcade into the former Woolwich society building, placed at the entrance to the Grosvenor shopping centre in Northampton. But councilors on the city's development control committee said the building was a key site in the town centre and that the arcade would detract from the area's charm.
Ablethird said was prepared to close its current Northampton branch in the centre of Abington Street had it been allowed to open the new location.
