Applied Gaming Solutions (AGS) of Canada and Song Be Lottery Company (SBLC), the representative government authority for the 20southern lottery companies of Vietnam, have reached an agreement that could lead to a Vietnam-based government operated sportsbook.
The deal calls for AGS to supply all necessary equipment and training for Song Be Lottery to operate the service. The site will accept wagers from international bettors on a vast array of sporting events, including soccer, horse racing, football, tennis and motor racing.
"We are very excited to expand the services we offer to the Vietnamese Lottery Authority and to
provide a complete solution for one of the world's first 100 percent government-owned and operated Internet sportsbooks," said Jib Phelan, vice president of lotteries for AGS.
The SBLC is one of the five permanent members of the southern region lottery counsel. The new agreement is in addition to an earlier agreement between the group and AGS to develop an Internet lottery.
AGS will receive a technical consulting fee for the duration of the 10-year contract period as well as a five-year renewal option. Final terms of the technical fee are still under negotiation.
AGS leads technical and marketing support activities for the online lottery system run by the Construction Lottery of the Capital-Hanoi in Vietnam, delivered in conjunction with its suppliers AWI, a division of Anchor Gaming, IBM and Motorola.
