Despite the recent decline in popularity of amusement arcades around the world, a Philippines-based operator is experiencing a boom in business. In the last decade Timezone has established 51 arcades across the country and has just opened two new outlets in its most populous city, Quezon City.
Timezone’s business development and marketing manager, Lelet Volfango, commented: “Our market is much different from the game console or online gaming businesses. We try as much as possible to be as family-friendly as possible, targeting people of all ages.”
Volfango said that while the outlets were more popular with younger people, the firm made sure it also catered to an older generation of players. For example, parents waiting for their children playing the video game machines could treat themselves to videoke, and more serious video games were available for older players.
