Denying that offering “free” bets was adding to problem gambling, Betfair Australia’s chief executive has suggested that all operators, including pokie venues, should ask customers to set spending limits, according to the Courier Mail.
“I think one of the real dangers with cash-based betting is that the wagering operator has no way of knowing who's betting with them and whether that person is betting beyond what they want to spend,” Andrew Twaits told the paper.
The Courier Mail said that Mr. Twaits believes gaming companies should be advocating for all gambling to be account-based where punters can track spending.
