In a prepared statement Tuesday afternoon, online operator Bodog noted its Web site, Bodog.com, had been shut down--the contents of which had been moved to Newbodog.com.
IGN has learned that the site was taken down due to a $46.5 million default judgment obtained in June by Dr. Scott Lewis, head of 1st Technology and the inventor and patent holder of a method for the enhancement of transmitted multimedia content.
In Sept. 2006, Lewis filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Bodog, claiming the company's online poker products violated 1st Technology's patent.
IGN will continue to report on this story as it develops.
