Canadian MP Backs Online Sports Wagering

18 November 1998

Dennis Mills caught the attention of the internet gaming industry in '97 when he introduced legislation which would authorize the operation of internet gaming in Canada. That momentum faded when a national election was called and the bill died in committee. Now, he's back in the news floating the idea of legal online sports wagering in Canada.

In a recent stories in the Canadian publication, Globe and Mail, Mills (the Toronto area Member of Parliament) suggests that kiosks be set up on 300 sites around the country to allow legal sportsbetting. The funds generated would go to fund amateur sports across the country.

It's certainly a one-two punch that could gain some steam in Canada.
