Carruthers Posts Bai

Former BETonSPORTS CEO David Carruthers, who has been in U.S. custody since his arrest on July 16 during a layover in Texas as he flew from London to Costa Rica, may be just days from being released.

United States Attorney Catherine Hanaway has approved the conditions for Carruthers' release, according to his attorney Scott Rosenblum, who met with prosecutors this morning in the chambers of U.S. District Court Judge Mary Ann Medler. He said all parties agreed on the terms of Carruthers' release, which will require him to stay in the St. Louis area under electronic monitoring until his trial on racketeering and fraud charges.

Prosecutors this morning were waiting for $1 million in bond money to be wired to St. Louis before Carruthers' release. But Rosenblum said this afternoon that the money had arrived and the bond had been posted, but because it was so late in the day Carruthers would have to wait until Monday for his release.
