Casino Journal Has Seen the Light

10 December 1998

The publishers of Casino Journal, a leading gaming industry trade publication, have never been shy about voicing their disapproval of Internet Gambling. Recently, however, that opinion has taken an about-face.

An editorial in the publication's December issue sums up their new outlook, stating, "We now recommend that America's major gaming companies become actively involved in promoting and sponsoring Internet gaming." Editorial editor J. Mark Reifer wrote that the change is "totally contrary to our previous position."

Casino Journal originally opposed online gambling because of its threat to conventional gaming companies. The new opinion is a result of "the reality of Internet gaming and the inevitability of its expansion and proliferation."
