GameAccount's Solitaire Tourney
Officials with online skill gaming provider GameAccount announced the start of what's being billed as the "world's largest solitaire tournament." More than 16,000 players from 130 countries were scheduled to take part in the event, which got underway this week. The players will compete in 14 rounds of the popular card game Pyramid Panic. The £10,000 multi-currency cash pot will be awarded to players who beat out 14 opponents to win the grand prize. Kevin O'Neal, marketing director at GameAccount, said the tournament is the beginning of the company's massive campaign to take the skill games market to unprecedented new levels.
Poker Celebrities Coming to the Big Screen
More than two dozen professional poker players will make appearances in the upcoming Hollywood film "Luck You," which is slated for debut in spring 2006. The movie stars Eric Bana ("Troy"), Drew Barrymore ("Charlie's Angels") and Robert Duvall ("The Godfather") and will include appearances from Jack Binion, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Hoyt Corkins, Eli Elezra, Antonio Esfandiari, Sam Farha, Maureen Feduniak, Chris Ferguson, Ted Forrest, Phil Hellmuth, Chau Giang, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman, Dan Harrington, John Hennigan, Karina Jett, John Juanda, Jason Lester, Erick Lindgren, Minh Ly, Mike Matusow, Daniel Negreanu, David Oppenheim, Max Pescatori, Matt Savage, Erik Seidel, Huck Seed, Mimi Tran, Cyndy Violette, Marsha Waggoner and Robert Williamson III. Brunson, Lester and Savage also served as consultants on the film. The casinos featured in the film include the Bellagio, Binions and the Aladdin.
WagerLogic Rolls Unveils New Games
Online gaming supplier WagerLogic Limited rolled out 14 new online casino games for its customers in July. The new games (Bonus Pack 7) includes 12 variations of multi-line video slots and two scratch card games--the first ever developed by WagerLogic's parent company, CryptoLogic. According to AJ Slivinski, managing director of WagerLogic Limited, the new 9-line video slots are a hit among players, especially "Mr. Rich," the latest addition to the Rapid Fire Jackpot group of progressive slots.
Octavian to Launch New Games at G2E
Octavian International will highlight its AWP game development work with Barcelona-based GiGames and new cashless and player tracking enhancements to its OctaLink ACP (Accounting, Control, Progressives) system at G2E. The company will promote its eight GiGames "Boomerang" machines running AWP games based on Octavian's extensive portfolio of DreamGames titles. It will preview further AWP titles being readied for launch later this year, as well as showing Captain Parrot 2, which recently made its AWP debut in Italy.
Stanley Leisure to Revamp Casinos
U.K.-based Stanley Leisure has outlined plans to invest more than £100 million over the next five years in revamping its casinos. The group, whose 41-strong casino portfolio includes three venues in Edinburgh, is making the investment to cash in on the relaxation of U.K. gaming laws. Money will be used to increase the number of slot machines in the company's four London casinos and 37 regional casinos as well as to refurbish a number of properties.
TST Certifies G-Fed Games
G-Fed Games announced this month that its gambling software platform has received certification from Technical Systems Testing, an internationally recognized accredited testing facility.
Through mathematical and statistical analysis, TST has verified that within a 95 percent confidence level, G-Fed Games' RNG distributes numbers with sufficient non-predictably, fair distribution and lack of bias to particular outcomes.
GWIN Announces BOS Sponsorship
GWIN Inc. this month announced the largest television sponsorship deal in its history. BOSPoker.net, a free-play online poker site owned by BETonSPORTS.com, has agreed to a major sponsorship agreement on GWIN's TV show, "Wayne Allyn Root's WinningEDGE," airing on Saturday mornings on Superstation WGN starting Sept. 10. The deal includes the sponsoring of the "Wayne Allyn Root's WinningEDGE" national TV and radio properties.
River Belle Launches Multiplayer Casino
River Belle, a BelleRock Gaming brand, this month introduced its new River Belle Multiplayer Casino. Guests can now play "alongside" each other in blackjack and slots games, the multiplayer casino creates a social, interactive experience that until now was only available in BelleRock's online poker rooms. Integrating a visual representation of a multiplayer atmosphere with real-time chat, River Belle Multiplayer Casino accesses a global network in which players from different casinos can play alongside each other in a community-oriented environment.
New Prima Sites
Prima Network has announced the addition of three new sites to its network of poker sites: BoylesportsPoker.com, (to be operated by Ireland's largest independent betting and gaming company); 24poker.com; and Purple-Lounge.com. The company said the card rooms represent an explosion of interest in poker from the online sports betting, entertainment and technology sectors. Players from each of the 39 card rooms on the Prima Network can join the world famous Hendon Mob (featuring four of Europe's top professional players) on the Prima Poker Tour. Online players can enter satellite tournaments at any time in Prima Network card rooms to gain valuable insights into the game from "The Mob" while going head-to-head against their poker idols at land-based tournaments such as The World Series of Poker, televised WPT and EPT events, and the Monte Carlo Millions.
Boss Media Tabs Quova's GeoPoint for Risk Scoring
Quova, Inc., a leading provider and developer of Internet geography services and technologies, announced this month that online gaming software supplier Boss Media has chosen Quova's GeoPoint geolocation service for transaction risk scoring. GeoPoint, which determines the geographic location of online visitors in real time, has been deployed to Bverified, an automatic verification tool offered by Boss Media's WebDollar subsidiary.
