Delays Hit France's Controlled Opening

17 December 2008

According to the French media, a draft bill detailing a regulatory regime for France’s so-called controlled opening will not be presented before yearend.

La Tribune reported Monday that the bill would be presented to the country’s Council of Ministers in January 2009, but would not make it to the National Assembly -- the lower house of Parliament -- before March 2009.

The paper said the delay comes as the budget and interior ministries continue debate over what online gambling activities the new regime will allow.

More details to come.
