U.S. representatives James Leach, John LaFalce and Richard Baker last week introduced a bill that serves as a companion to Rep. Goodlatte's Internet Gambling Prohibition Act. The new bill, HR 4419 IH (the Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act), prohibits the use of credit cards, debit cards, checks, bank drafts or electronic transfers to place bets, collect winnings or conduct gambling activities on the Internet. Violators of the law would get up to four years in prison as well as a fine of $20,000.
