More than 40 opponents of legislation that would ban electronic bingo in Walker County, Alabama crowded into a tiny meeting room in the Alabama Statehouse for a hearing today.
A 1993 legislative amendment legalized charity bingo in Walker county in 1993. Proponents of electronic bingo say the amendment did not limit bingo to any particular type (via machines vs. communal play), but opponents claim electronic bingo was never expected.
There are now 16 electronic bingo parlors in the county and more are planned.
No vote was held on the legislation today, nor has one been scheduled.
