In a statement released on Wednesday, Elixir Gaming Technologies Inc., a gaming solutions provider, said it intends to seek damages from Shuffle Master Inc. after the company abandoned its appeal of the patent-infringement lawsuit, in which a United States District Court ruled in favor of Elixir Gaming.
The company said that Shuffle Master’s abandonment finalized the court’s ruling, and added that the preliminary injunction previously obtained by Shuffle Master was wrongful, which Elixir said was later reversed by the Court of Appeals.
Elixir said it intends to seek damages from Shuffle Master for a wrongful injunction and prosecution that “total several million dollars.”
