(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Esports Integrity Commission, the integrity partner of the Esports World Cup 2026, has issued provisional suspensions to Juan “Vintage” Angulo and Oswaldo “DarkMago” Herrera, two participants associated with the PTime Dota 2 team, in connection with an ongoing integrity investigation arising from the Esports World Cup 2026.
With immediate effect, Vintage and DarkMago are prohibited from participating, directly or indirectly, in EWC26 and all ESIC Member events while the investigation remains ongoing.
In Vintage’s case, the interim measure also prevents him from undertaking coaching, management, strategic, team-facing or other support functions connected with participating teams or players.
The provisional suspensions have been imposed following ESIC’s preliminary assessment of information concerning suspected breaches of the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code and Player Code of Conduct.
The measures are protective and precautionary. They are intended to safeguard the integrity of the competition, preserve relevant evidence and support the fair and effective conduct of ESIC’s investigation.
No final determination of guilt has been made.
Both participants have been notified of the basis and effect of the interim measures, have been interviewed by ESIC and have been provided with an opportunity to respond and submit relevant material.
ESIC’s investigation remains ongoing. The provisional suspensions will remain in effect unless varied or lifted by ESIC in writing.
Any resulting tournament administration or competition decisions relating to the Esports World Cup 2026 will be communicated separately by the Esports Foundation.
To protect the integrity of the ongoing process and the rights of all relevant persons, ESIC will not provide further public comment unless and until the investigation materially progresses or further enforcement action is taken.
