Federal's Online Casino Officially Sets Sai

5 July 2000
The Federal Group, Australia's first casino operators, announced today the official launching of its government-licensed online casino.

The company's new Internet gaming portal, www.southerncrosscasinos.com, opened in May of 2000 and now features two online casinos--Wrest Point and Launceston Country Club--both of which are named after existing Australian casinos operated by the Federal Group.

Online visitors to Wrest Point will discover that it works from JavaScript; players must download material before each game. Diversely, Launceston Country Club requires visitors to download upon accessing the site and the information remains on the player's computer for later use.

The two Southern Cross Casinos sites are sanctioned by the Tasmanian government under a virtual gaming license obtained by Federal in 1998. The sites contain a privacy protection system that allows players to be completely anonymous.

Executive Director John Farrell went as far as to say that "Southern Cross Casinos is one of the most secure online sites in the world." Farrell added, "Players can enjoy our gaming casinos with the confidence that their privacy is protected, the games are fair, and winnings will be paid."

Orinally a hotel operator, the Federal Group has been in existence for 125 years. The company has been in the casino business for 27 years.
