Although the global downturn could factor into why casinos in Ontario, Canada, have slipped into the red for the first time ever, that’s not the only reason, The Windsor Star reported on Friday.
The paper said the largest impact on city's four casinos' profits has been increased competition from new casinos and racetracks in New York, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
According to The Star, Caesars Windsor, Niagara Casino, Niagara Fallsview Casino and Casino Rama in Orillia showed combined losses of $55.9 million in 2007-08.
