Connecticut's Mashantucket Pequot tribe has laid off 200 middle managers at its Foxwoods Resort Casino at part of a "strategic organizational review."
All of the layoffs were at the Foxwoods facility, not at the new MGM Grand expansion that opened in May.
Revenue has been declining at Foxwoods for eight months straight.
"They're just looking for the wisest spending practices that can go the farthest financially for the tribe," Lori Potter, a spokesperson for the tribe told the Norwich Bulletin. "I've been told that this is it, but I can't really be quoted and say for sure."
