Gamblers Anonymous Sees Increase in Young Males

5 September 2008

According to the Irish Times, Gamblers Anonymous has cited a jump in males between 20 and 30 seeking help. The reason? Online gambling, the group says.

The international organization that reaches out to problem gamblers said the increase has led to more traffic on its Web site.

“When I gambled, I gambled in the local bookies,” an unnamed public relations officer told the Irish Times. “When he closed for the day, I stopped gambling. Now all you need is a credit card and a phone and you can do it 24 hours a day.”
