Reports of a recent mark-up on the Goodlatte bill have been exaggerated.
IGN reported Friday in Nambling Notes that the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee is planning to mark up a handful of bills during the next few weeks. Those bills include a proposal put forth by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., which aims to quell I-gaming activity via an update of the 1961 Interstate Wire Act.
According to a source on Capitol Hill, the bill will be considered sometime during the next week or two as part of a "rolling mark-up," which means there won't be an exact schedule by which the committee will look at each bill slated to be marked-up.
However, just as Mark Twain once had to publicly put down rumors of his death by telling the world his demise was nothing more than an exaggeration, it seems elsewhere on the Web reports of the Goodlatte mark-up may have jumped the gun.
As soon as the latest mark-up takes place, IGN will follow-up with all the relevant details.
