Once seen as a market with massive growth potential, Macau saw fourth-quarter revenues decline by 7 percent, The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Monday.
Although the total amount totaled 24 billion patacas, or $4.5 billion, the region brought in 584 million patacas more in the fourth quarter of 2007.
The Herald said revenues grew 67 percent in 2007. In 2008, however, gaming revenues were up by only 31 percent.
According to the newspaper, the Macau government predicts revenues will decline further with each quarter averaging 21 billion patacas.
