WEST GREENWICH, R.I. -- Gtech Holdings Corp. formed a unit to provide Internet-based interactive lottery games.
In a press release, Gtech said it named Clifton C. Dutton, chief executive of Distributed Data Systems, as vice preisdent and general manager of the UWin! unit.
The company says games will be regulated by its Gatekeeper security software, which allows users to play games authorized only by local gaming regulations, prohibiting illegal play across jurisdictional boundaries.
UWin! will license technology from Marimba Inc. and Mpath Interactive Inc. for the games.
Marimba is a privately held software company.
Mpath is a privately held Internet entertainment company.
Gtech supplies lottery products and services.
