Harrah's Entertainment, the world's largest casino operator in terms of revenue, is unable to take bets on the National Basketball Association's championship series between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers because chief executive Gary Loveman bought a 2.4 percent stake in the Celtics last year. NBA rules prevent Harrah's from taking any bets on the Celtics whatsoever.
Harrah's owns 13 casinos in Nevada whose sportsbooks would under other circumstances take wagering action on the Celtics.
NBA basketball is the fourth most popular sport for bookmakers on the Las Vegas Strip, behind only professional football, college football and college basketball.
