The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported last week that Charles L. Atwood, vice chairman of Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., will be retiring on Dec. 19.
After a 30-year run with Harrah’s, Mr. Atwood told the newspaper that he stayed with the company so long because he was able to “work with smart people everyday.”
During his time with Harrah’s, the company has grown exponentially to a worldwide behemoth, which at the end of December 2007 owned 50 casinos across the globe.
The newspaper said that after he retires, Mr. Atwood plans to spend time on philanthropic projects like The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas.
