On the Rise
British gaming company Wembley Plc (WMY.L) announced Tuesday that its pre-tax profit rose 7.5 percent to 14.4 million pounds (a 22 percent increase) in the six months to June. "The group, having emerged revitalized from the sale of Wembley Stadium," Chairman Claes Hultman said, "faces an exciting future, with opportunities for growth in both our existing and newly developed businesses." Interim earnings per share rose 31.3 percent to 19.7p.

Shares of ENIC Plc, the sports and entertainment group with an ownership interest in Victor Chandler, rocket Friday from 170p to 190p, before finally closing at 185p. The company recently offered to purchase Alan Sugar's 29.9 percent share in Tottenham Hotspur (TTNM.L) for £24 million.

Virtgame.com Forecasts Sunny Days
Recently removed from its recently announced Antigua Internet gambling operations, Virtgame.com Corp. (VGTI) says that it has begun generating revenue as an application software provider and expects reduced loss and loss per share for the second half of year 2000. The revenues from continuing operations for the three months ended June 30, 2000 were $29,000 versus $0 last year. The revenues exclude gaming revenues, which under generally accepted accounting principles were included under discontinued operations. The total net loss per share including continuing and discounted operations for the three months ending June 30, 2000 was 6 cents per share versus 8 cents loss per share for the same period last year. For the six months ending June 30, 2000 the total net loss per share including continuing and discontinued operations was 12 cents per share versus 16 cents loss per share for the same period last year.

Autotote Shareholders Approve purchase of Scientific Games
Scientific Games Holdings Corp. (SG) shareholders voted at a special meeting of shareholders last week to approve its acquisition by Autotote Corporation (TTE). The acquisition, which remains subject to the approval of certain governmental entities and certain other conditions, is expected to close before the end of August. The acquisition combines Scientific Games' instant lottery ticket and related services, lottery systems and rapidly growing prepaid phone card businesses with Autotote's pari-mutuel wagering, venue management and on-line lottery businesses. Autotote agreed May 18 to acquire Scientific Games for merger consideration of approximately $310 million, or $26 per share in cash.

Autotote Announces Receipt of Tenders and Consents
Autotote Corporation (TTE) announced last Monday that it has received tenders and consents from holders of an aggregate of $109,485,000 principal amount (approximately 99.53 percent) of its 10 7/8 percent series B senior notes due 2004 in connection with its previously announced cash tender offer and consent solicitation for the notes. As a result, all of the proposed amendments to the indenture governing the notes have been adopted, the company has executed a supplemental indenture reflecting the proposed amendments and the consent date has been fixed at midnight , New York City time, on August 4, 2000.

Littlewoods Changes Name, Focus
Littlewoods Leisure announced upon its £161.8 million takeover by Rodime that it has changed its name to Sportech. The new name is reflects the company's move into hi-tech Internet and digital TV gambling.

A Change of Identity for E-Vegas.com
E-Vegas.com Inc. announced this week that it has changed its name to 1st Genx.com Inc. The company's new trading symbol is 'FGNX.' The company also announced that it has named Paul Holm, the founder of the Social Register of Las Vegas, to its board.
