IGN | Internet Gambling Study Bill Markup on Hold

3 August 2008

The Internet Gambling Study Act, introduced in mid 2007 by Representative Shelley Berkley, Democrat of Nevada, was slated for markup by the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

However, due to the large number of bills on the schedule, the committee was unable to address Ms. Berkley's bill.

The next opportunity for markup will come after the Congressional summer break.

Berkley's bill proposes a one-year study on Internet gambling conducted by the National Academy of Sciences.
