The Chicago Tribune reported today that bids for Illinois' 10th and final casino license could be less than favorable.
The paper says the state’s gaming board will hear from operators on Tuesday who want to open casinos in Des Plaines, Rosemont or Waukegan.
“It's very bad timing for Illinois,” Bill Eadington, director of a gambling institute at the University of Nevada-Reno, told the newspaper. “We're facing the biggest economic recession in 75 years. I wouldn't be surprised if the companies that made bids a couple months ago could no longer justify them.”
