India Could Soon See Another Gambling Region

According to The Times of India, Thunderbird Resorts, an entertainment and hospitality chain, and Daman Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. have plans to construct Fiesta Casino in Daman, India.

The paper says that currently, Goa is the only city in India where casinos are legal. However, plans for Fiesta Casino will include a 52,000-square-foot casino with 500 electronic slot machines as well as poker and roulette tables.

“There is an increased effort in promoting casinos among the domestic audience,” Ketan Patel, chairman of Daman Hospitality, told the paper. “Indians, especially Gujaratis, have high disposable income and are considered high-spenders. The project will change the face of Daman.”
