British gaming machine manufacturer Inspired Gaming Group Plc has begun a review of its "weak" pubs unit, which contributes about 39 percent of the company's revenue.
"The review is very advanced,'' said co-CEO Norman Crowley. "We're looking at a spin-out, a sale or a joint venture.''
Like so many other British pubs, arcades, casinos and bingo clubs, Inspired's pub unit has suffered from last year's smoking ban and changes to gambling laws. The company laid off many employees before Christmas and has slashed its investments in the pubs unit.
