In December 1999, the government of St. Christopher (more commonly known as St. Kitts) and Nevis enacted its Betting and Gaming (Control) Act, 1999. The new law permits the licensing and operation of physical gaming, Internet gaming, horse or greyhound betting and sportsbook betting services. The St. Christopher and Nevis Gaming Board was also established by the legislation.
The Act established a licensing fee ($80,000 to apply and $40,000 annually for renewals) and taxation structure, as well as regulations controlling the operation of such businesses. Applicants must provide a written police report regarding their character and police record; a recent photograph and copy of passport or social security number (for a natural person) or a certificate of registration issued by the Registrar of Companies in St. Kitts (for a corporation); and a sworn declaration by the applicant that he (or individuals from the corporation) is not a beneficial owner or controller of a bank.
To date, the St. Kitts and Nevis government has issued only three master licenses.
