By way of its subsidiary called Betting Company, Intralot S.A. announced on Monday it has signed an agreement with FIFA's subsidiary, Early Warning System G.m.b.H., to become a member of FIFA’s global network.
As a network member, the global lotto and betting company’s subsidiary would inform the Early Warning System of suspicious betting patterns, which could translate into possible manipulation of football matches in addition to other events. Information received by Intralot will also be investigated by the system in order to provide assistance in combating unethical and illegal activities.
“We are very content to form part of such an important network,” Constantinos G. Antonopoulos, chief executive of Intralot, said in a prepared statement. “Transparency is a means to safeguard the values and the integrity of football and sports in general.”
