A jury in Clark County, Nevada has awarded Richard Suen a $43.8 million judgment against American gaming giant Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS).
Suen, a businessman from Hong Kong, filed suit against LVS in 2004. He says he was hired by LVS to help it obtain an operating license in Macau. Suen says LVS promised him a $5 million "success fee" plus two percent of net casino profits.
Sheldon Adelson, chairman and chief executive of LVS, took the witness stand in the case, offering what has been described by many reports as conflicting testimony.
The eight-person jury deliberated for one day before returning with its decision.
