A U.S. federal judge in Puerto Rico ruled Wednesday that BetOnSports (BoS) founder Gary Kaplan should be extradited to St. Louis, Mo., to face a 22-count criminal indictment, the AP reports.
Magistrate Marcos Lopez also said Kaplan, who was arrested March 28 in the Dominican Republic, poses a flight risk and should not be freed on bond pending his transfer.
Kaplan's attorney, Maria Sandoval, said Kaplan would seek bail after he is taken to Missouri, where he faces charges as part of a federal indictment brought against BoS in June 2006 in connection with taking illegal bets from the United States.
The company's former CEO, David Carruthers, remains under house arrest in the St. Louis area awaiting trial.
