11 May 2007

BetonSports (BoS) founder Gary Kaplan will be arraigned on Monday in a St. Louis federal court, according to the court docket.

Kaplan was one of 11 individuals indicted in July 2006 on 22 counts of racketeering, fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy in connection with taking illegal Internet bets from U.S. citizens.

After living as a fugitive for nearly eight months, Kaplan was arrested in March in the Dominican Republic and has been held without bail in Puerto Rico awaiting extradition to St. Louis.

Meanwhile, the 10 other defendants in the case against BoS, including ex-CEO David Carruthers, are awaiting trial. Carruthers remains under house arrest in the St. Louis area.

Kaplan's arraignment is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Monday.
