Ksa launches campaigns targeting youth gambling harm

4 November 2026
(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority is launching two new campaigns in early November to make gambling and gambling-related harm more openly discussed and to raise awareness of the Gambling Stop program. With OpenOverGokken, parents are encouraged to talk to their children about gambling in a timely manner. The new Gambling Stop campaign encourages young adults experiencing gambling problems to take the step towards a gambling stop. Both campaigns emphasize that taking the first step does not have to be complicated.
OpenOverGokken: talk to your child about gambling in time
Young people come into contact with gambling in various ways, for example through social media, online videos, advertisements, and games. However, parents do not always know what their child picks up from this or how to start a conversation about gambling. That is why the new Open over Gokken campaign focuses on parents of teenagers and young adults aged 16 to 25.
In the campaign, young people have their say. They share how their parents talk to them about topics such as sex and safety. But what about gambling? With the call 'Talk to your child about gambling in time too', the campaign encourages parents to open up the subject, even when there is no immediate reason to worry.
The campaign builds on the launch of OpenOverGokken.nl in 2025. This independent information platform offers reliable information about (online) gambling and provides practical tools to start the conversation.
Gambling Stop: every moment is a Gambling Stop moment
In addition to preventing gambling harm, it is important that people who are already experiencing problems due to gambling take timely action. For this group, the Ksa is launching a new Gokstop campaign. The campaign focuses primarily on young adults who experience problems with gambling or have an increased risk of gambling harm. Attention is also paid to loved ones, as they can play an important role in taking the first step.
Under the banner 'Every moment is a Gambling Stop moment', the campaign shows that one does not have to wait for a special or life-changing moment to decide to stop gambling. This can also happen during ordinary, everyday situations. Whereas previous campaigns primarily emphasized how someone could pick up their life again after taking a Gambling Stop, the emphasis now lies on the moment when someone decides to take a Gambling Stop.
Using relatable situations, the Gaming Authority aims to make that step as accessible as possible. At the same time, the campaign shows what taking a Gambling Stop can mean: more peace, relief, and room for other things in daily life.
