Despite the broader economic downturn, numbers released from the Louisiana Gambling Control Commission show the state's licensed riverboat casinos grew October income by 5 percent against the same period last year.
Louisiana's 13 riverboats brought in $144.1 million versus $137.2 during the prior-year period. Against September 2008, however, revenue grew 24.2 percent.
The state's land-based casino property, operated by Harrah's Entertainment Inc. in New Orleans, reported income of $30.3 million, up 30.8 percent on September but down 6.5 percent against October 2007.
