Ladbrokes Eyes Tabcorp's Victorian License

26 January 2009

Last week Ladbrokes expressed interest in snatching up Tabcorp’s Victorian wagering and gaming license, which expires in 2012, according to the Herald Sun.

The betting and gaming company sent its managing director for international development, Kevin Hopgood, and its chief information officer, Steve Maxwell, to meet with Australian industry members last week, the newspaper said.

“The Victorian license is a fairly unique opportunity,” Mr. Hopgood told The Sun. “We would build a good Australian business making full use of our experience back in the UK and elsewhere in the world to build an Australian business.”

The Sunday Times of London said that Ladbrokes has registered an interest in bidding this month, and a winner is expected to be revealed near December 2009.
