Lawsuit Filed Over Electronic Poker Table Patent

6 March 2008

Lightning Poker, a subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed Lightning Gaming, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against rival PokerTek, also listed on the NASDAQ.

Lighting Poker alleges that PokerTek infringes on a patent relating generally to an electronic poker table with a center monitor screen showing multiple community cards and betting information for each player. Lightning Poker seeks unspecified monetary damages from PokerTek and a permanent injunction barring the uses and sale of all PokerTek products in the US.

PokerTek says its products do not violate the patent and that it will vigorously defend its intellectual property.
