Legislation, Partnership to Boost Lottery Biz in Italy

10 October 2008

Cogetech, the Italian online and land-based gaming operator and ACE Interactive, the Swedish gaming technology developer, have joined forces to offer server based video lottery gaming in Italy, pending the approval of forthcoming legislation. The Comma 6B machine legislation -- which addresses video lottery terminals -- is currently under analysis by the Autonoma dei Monopoli de Stato, or AAMS, the Italian gaming regulator.

The legislation, expected to be introduced in 2009, would reduce many of the currently existing limitations with regards to issues such as central monitoring, proper taxation, money laundering and underage gaming.

"We are confident that together we have all the ingredients to generate success for both companies whilst providing the best games in a responsible gaming environment to the Italian player under the pending Comma 6B legislation," Michael Koch, ACE Interactive chief executive said in a prepared statement on Wednesday.
