Louisiana AG: 'I Don't Think So'

2 March 2000
IGN reported yesterday that an Antigua-based company, Mardi Gras Holding Group, Inc, has launched a campaign advocating the legalization of online gambling in the United States. The company solicited the opinion of Louisiana Attorney General Ieyoub regarding its plan to broadcast live casino games over the Internet and received one February 11.

Louisiana already has a law--14:90.3--prohibiting online gambling, thus, the Attorney General's opinion letter is far from elaborate.

Nevertheless, Mardi Gras was incensed upon receiving the letter because the company had previously been assured by two members of the Louisiana's Department of Justice's Gambling Division that its plans were legal.

What's an angry Louisianan do, but fire back? Then, you send a report to Congress demanding legislation be passed legalizing Internet gambling in the United States.
