Macau Could Bail Out Casinos

12 November 2008

Edmund Ho, Macau’s chief executive, said that the territory’s government would not allow casinos to shut down, according to the Financial Times.

”If necessary, the government will take over,” he said yesterday about the Las Vegas of the East.

He added that there were no indications that the six licensed operators would need some sort of bailout, even though profits in the region are expected to slow.
