Boss Media's bank accounts in Malta have been frozen by a court order relating to a €45 million law suit filed by fledgling Internet poker room PokerTrillion.
Aside from that, the facts of the case remain sketchy. PokerTrillion says the court forbids it from discussing details, and Boss says its policy is not to comment on these kinds of situations.
In a prepared statement, PokerTrillion CEO Andy Pyrah alludes to "massive irregularities surrounding Boss Media and their handling of PokerTrillion.com" and "a number of contractual issues."
"The garnishee (freezing) order has been executed at all seven banks in Malta where the Boss Media companies hold bank accounts," according to the statement.
PokerTrillion says the law suit has been taken against Boss and associated companies "in various jurisdictions, including but not restricted to Sweden and Malta."
A statement from Boss Media appearing on various poker forums over the weekend indicates that the case relates to the termination of PokerTrillion's relationship with Boss Media and its subsidiary Webdollar. The statement focuses on quelling players' fears rather than divulging details of the dispute, noting that "player funds are readily available and can be withdrawn by the players at any time until Boss Media is instructed otherwise by PokerTrillion."
PokerTrillion is a young company, having launched in December 2007. The company operates in Malta and has filed its suit in Malta's First Hall Civil Court. The complaint number is 532-08.
