Phantom Fiber Acquires Application Solutions Inc.
Wireless technology and mobile solutions provider Phantom Fiber Corporation (OTC:PHMF), has signed a letter of intent to acquire Application Solutions Inc, an Ohio-based integrator of warehouse management systems, RFID systems, managed network and wireless services for manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution operations. The company can act as a supplier, a systems integrator, and a service provider, depending upon the customer's needs.
YooMedia Continues to Expand
Interactive TV and mobile provider YooMedia (YOO.L) has purchased the entire share capital of Whoosh Group Limited, an interactive mobile phone marketing and technology company. Whoosh specializes in using short message service (SMS) texting technology in brand marketing campaigns, which it does for the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" quiz show. The company uses a real time messaging service to record the exact time at which a viewer has sent his text. Whoosh recently won the 2004 New Media Age Effectiveness Award for its work in the broadcast sector. YooMedia says that Woosh's business will complement YooMedia's already existing Trigger TV operation, which allows synchronous interactivity between broadcast radio and television programs.
Tabcorp Acquires Necessary Tab Shares
Last week Victoria-based Tabcorp Holdings Ltd. (TAH.AX)'s takeover of New South Wales-based TAB Ltd. gained acceptance from over 90 percent of TAB Ltd (TAB.AX) shareholders, prompting compulsory acquisition of the remaining shares in TAB and guaranteeing TAB shareholders the extra $0.10 per share offered by Tabcorp to win support for its bid. The offer period was slated to end on August 4th, but on August 2nd Tabcorp's managing director Matthew Slatter extended the offer period another nine days so that the remaining Tab shareholders could accept the proposal. The offer will now end on August 13th.
Good Trading Keeps Ukbetting on Track
Ukbetting Plc (UKB.L) has issued a trading update to report that it experienced good trading in the six months ended June 30th, 2004 and that it remains on track to reach EBITDA profitability for the year 2004. The company's gaming division recorded a gross win margin of nine percent while obtaining new customer registrations at a rate slightly below 5000 per month. The ukbetting.com site recently relaunched, stimulating a strong growth in casino and poker products, and the totalbet.com site is scheduled for a relaunch within the second half of the year. The company's content division is also trading profitably, with user numbers just reaching the 6 million mark. Ukbetting announced last week that it had acquired In The Box Media Limited, a media rights business and specialist producer of video content for broadband.
