Software developer CryptoLogic Inc (CRY.TO)'s financial report for the third quarter ended September 30th is filled with good results for the company. The group's quarterly revenue is up 43 percent to US$15.6 million and earnings are up 32 percent to $2.9 million compared to the same period last year. WagerLogic, the software licensing subsidiary of CryptoLogic, reported a 55 percent growth in poker fees since the second quarter of 2004. Poker licensing fees constituted 20 percent of the group's entire revenue in the third quarter.

Lotteries company Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) improved its third quarter 2004 revenue by 36 percent, raising it to US$179.3 million compared to last year's $132.1 million. The company's net income for the quarter rose 62 percent to $21.5 million from $13.2 million last year while EBITDA rose 41 percent to $53.5 million from $37.9 million.

Youbet.com Inc (UBET), the California-based provider of horse race wagering, simulcasting and content, has reported pre-tax income of US$791,000 in the third quarter ended September 30th. Last year the company reported a loss of $617, 853 for the third quarter. Net income for the third quarter of 2004 was up to $4 million or $.12 per diluted share, compared to a loss of $618,000 or a negative .02 per basic share during last year's third quarter. The company recently announced that it had received $3.2 million in handle for the Breeders' Cup race day on October 30th. That amount is the second highest in Youbet's history, behind only the 2004 Kentucky Derby. New user signups increased by 27 percent for this year's Breeder's Cup as compared to last year, and wagering via the company's upgraded telephone system increased by 42 percent.

NDS Group Plc (NNDS), a News Corporation company that provides technology solutions for digital pay-TV, reported £86 million in revenue in its first quarter of 2004 ended on September 30th (up from 52 million last year), £18.6 million in EBITDA (up from £14.1 million) and £15 million (up from £11.1 million) in operating profit. The company continues to benefit from growth in the digital pay-TV around the world, and it shipped 9 million of its digital TV smart cards with NDS technology in the first quarter of 2004, raising the total number of smart cards nine percent to 48 million.

WPT Enterprises Inc. (WPTE)'s results for the third quarter ended October 3, 2004 show revenue totaling US$3.0 million, compared to just $0.4 million in the prior year period. Net loss for the quarter was $0.5 million, slightly more that last year's third quarter net loss of $0.4 million. The company's increase in revenue is due mainly to an increase in the number of episodes of its World Poker Tour television series delivered to the Travel Channel during the third quarter. The company completed its initial public offering on August 13, 2004, selling 4 million shares of common stock for approximately $28.5 million.
