Mohegan Resorts, which is owned by the Mohegan Indian Tribe of Connecticut and its Tribal Gaming Authority, has purchased another third of the shares in a proposed $770 million casino resort project to be built in Kansas City if the bid is successful.
Mohegan Resorts already owned one third of the shares in the Legends Sun Casino venture. It has purchased the second third of shares from gaming development company Olympia Gaming, a division of Las Vegas-based Olympia Group.
"The move was designed to free up Nevada-based Olympia to focus on its growing portfolio of in-state projects," an Olympia spokesperson told GlobeSt.com.
RED Development, a Kansas City-based retail development company, owns the remaining third of shares in the proposed Legends Sun Casino venture.
The Legends Sun Casino is competing with four other proposals for the contract to manage a state-owned casino in Kansas City.
