Lottomatica, the Italian lottery group, revealed net profits rose 59 percent to 78 million euros for the first half of the 2008 fiscal year, with sales up 11 percent to 928 million and Ebitda by 4.7 percent to 399 million euros.

Betsson, the Sweden-based operator, reported second-quarter revenue of 236.9 million Swedish kronor, up 63 percent over the previous-year period, with like-for-like revenue up 4 percent.

Daniel Stewart & Co., the London brokerage, has a "buy" note out on William Hill. "William Hill's share price fall yesterday (-3.4%), in a neutral market, was a travesty," it said.
